Wow it’s the end of October already – time is just flying by.
October has been a busy month for the Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce. We have been involved in several committee meetings, continuing to provide value to our members through workshops, member benefit packages and education sessions.
We welcome our newest members Westburn Garden Centre, Natural Coast Landscaping and Joan Grainger – TD Canada Trust.
With the holiday season just around the corner, our chamber has been in touch with Santa and his elves preparing for our annual Santa Parade, sail past, late night shopping and holiday celebrations. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information regarding our holiday events.
An all-candidates meeting is scheduled at Edward Milne Community School on Nov.8 from 7 – 9:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30. We anticipate this to be a well attended event. Information regarding candidates can be found online on our website www.sookeregionchamber.com as well as in local newspaper publications.
The chamber office located at unit 1B 6631 Sooke Road also has information for those who may not have access to the internet.
We continue to work with our Economic Development Commission to increase and encourage new businesses and new residents to the Sooke region.
Our AGM will be held in early December – (date and location TBA) where our new board will be announced. The chamber has the following positions open: vice president, and four seats for directors. If you are a member in good standing, can commit to a monthly meeting (lunch) participate in at least one committee and can attend chamber and community events, we encourage you to submit your name for nomination. Nominations close at 12 noon Monday, Nov. 14. Membership renewal for all members of the Sooke Region Chamber takes place in January 2012. An application for renewal can be found on our website. Great news, rates for membership will remain the same as 2011, we will not have any increase in membership costs for this year.
