WorkBC and the City of Surrey have partnered to host an upcoming job fair that aims to promote inclusive hiring practises.
WorkBC’s five employment-services centres in the city, along with the city itself, will host the second Get Surrey Working Hiring Fair, set for tomorrow (Thursday) from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre (13458 107A Ave.).
WorkBC clients will be granted early access, from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
The event, held in recognition of Disability Employment Month, is to feature more than 40 employers from various industries, according to a Sources BC news release.
At last year’s event, more than 500 job-seekers attended, with 20 reporting that they were hired on the spot, the release notes.
“The Get Surrey Working (Hiring) Fair is a great opportunity for employers and job seekers to connect and build capacity for more diverse and inclusive workplaces in our city. At the City of Surrey, we’re committed to creating a city that’s welcoming and inclusive of all people and are proud to be hosting this year’s event again,” said Joey Brar, the City of Surrey’s acting director of human resources.
