CityWest pays $400,000 to the City of Prince Rupert

Annual distribution payments since 2005 now total $7.5-million

The spirit of giving is here, and CityWest has presented its annual $400,000 distribution payment to the City of Prince Rupert — its only shareholder.

The same amount was delivered to the city last year, and the year before, and so on.

“This payment is the outcome of the decisions we’ve made over the past few years,” said Chris Marett, CEO of CityWest. “We are seeing great results in our Bulkley Valley markets, where we built fibre-to-the-home technology in underserved areas. And as we improve our technology in our existing markets, we expect to see more growth in the years to come.”

Dividends and distribution payments to the city now totals $7.5-million with more than $1.8-million in taxes, since 2005 when CityWest became a corporation.

This past year was a busy one for the telecommunications company with fibre-to-the-home being installed across Prince Rupert, and expansions into Bulkley Valley. As of June 2018, more than 150 customers in Prince Rupert were hooked up to the fibre-to-the-home services.

“It certainly was a busy year, and we have kept on track with a single-minded focus: to provide our customers with the best customer experience,” Marett said.
