As British Columbians begin to enjoy lessening of COVID-19 restrictions, Comox Valley Dine Around is back and encouraging diners to support local restaurants with a fun challenge.
The past 15 months have been very difficult for restaurants but it’s now time to get out, enjoy the good weather and begin to gather with friends, family and colleagues.
“Comox Valley restaurants are ready to welcome guests inside and out. We created the Dine Around Foodie Challenge to encourage customers to have a fun dining experience,” said Samantha Scholefield, BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association (BCRFA) program manager. “We chose to celebrate burgers because they appeal to so many palates. They can be found on patios, in cafés and pubs, fine dining and family dining.”
Twenty-one restaurants and counting in Comox and Courtenay have put forward a burger. Customers can find a wide array of tastes for all parts of the day. There are beef burgers, chicken burgers, a salmon burger, a breakfast burger and a vegan burger.
“It’s amazing to finally be in a time where we can celebrate, and we feel the stress our industry has been under begin to lift,” said Scholefield. “We encourage folks to dine out until July 4 and try three burgers, and then vote for their favourite. The idea isn’t a contest between restaurants as much as it’s a way to get out and explore the food and dining scene and explore new flavours.”
All the feature restaurants are on www.comoxvalleydinearound.com. For those looking for a great patio, the Comox Valley Patio Dining guide is up for those looking to really enjoy all that summer dining offers.
Customers who chose to vote should consider taste, value, uniqueness and originality. Vote online by QR code or paper ballot at participating restaurants. The best burger will be crowned in the Comox Valley Record on July 7.
Restaurants who currently aren’t listed on the website are welcome to submit their business for a free profile.
Ian Tostenson, BCRFA president and CEO, is confident that diners will get excited about this new promotion.
“BC restaurants are an extremely important sector in a strong BC economy,” he said. “Getting together over a burger is a great way to feel just a little more normal.”
