The successful Craig Street Market in Parksville has wrapped up for the year and is already looking forward to another big season next summer.

“It went very well, everything I heard from the vendors and the businesses was positive,” said Kim Burden, executive director of the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce which runs the weekly Tuesday evening markets.

He said that not only does he get a lot of positive feedback directly from people who attend or work at the market, but at a recent Vancouver Island-wide chamber meeting he was hearing a lot of compliments from other communities.

“People really appreciate the vibrancy,” he said pointing out that they expanded over the summer reaching a maximum of about 140 vendors.

He said they hoped for the increase in vendors — topping out at about 100 last year — so when they applied for permission from the city in the spring they asked to include the possible expansion onto Middleton Avenue, leaving it open-ended.

While it’s too early for exact details Burden said the market, known as the “Summer by the Sea Street Market,” will definitely go ahead again next summer much as it was this summer.
