Crazy Creek Resort is building a pedestrian overpass over the Trans-Canada Highway in order to connect the two halves of its property.
In a news release, the eight-year-old resort said the overpass is set to open in June, after years of negotiations with the B.C. Ministry of Transportation.
Currently, the resort’s 165-acres are split by the highway. The north side contains the Crazy Creek waterfalls and suspension bridge while the south side contains the hot pools, cabins and camp sites by the Eagle River.
The new overpass will be built in the same spot where a previous logging road bridge existed 50 years ago, the resort said.
The bridge is expected to be built with only one hour-long delay to highway traffic. It will be 140 feet long and will be accessed by a ramp, not stairs.
