Dance club gets facelift

Once a destination spot for club goers, Langley’s nightlife scene has become almost non-existent over the past few years, forcing many to take their friends — and their money — to the clubs in downtown Vancouver.

Now, with a new name and faces behind a long-established nightclub, they can socialize and dance the night away at Jimmy Liks night club and music room, Langley’s newest night spot.

It’s a project of Greg Herschel who, with a couple business partners, bought the establishment formerly known as Vanilla Room at 6001 196A St., gave it a facelift and a new name, and they’re now ready to hold their grand opening party on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Beat 94.5 will be live on location to host the event and all guests arriving before 11 p.m. will receive a complementary Grey goose vodka beverage.

People wishing to get on the guest list, to avoid paying cover or waiting in line, should go to clubvibes.com or email the club directly at info@jimmyliksbar.com

After taking over in September, the new owners set about giving the inside a brand new feel, stripping everything down to the bare walls, ripping out old washrooms and floors. Then they gave the club a fresh new eye-catching name.

The club’s general manager, Ryan Moreno, commented, “This night club used to be the booming hub of Langley’s social life (for the roughly 19 to 30 age group) and would draw people from all over the Fraser Valley, Surrey, Maple Ridge and rest of the Lower Mainland.”

Moreno also noted that with little exciting happening in Langley, a lot of people from this area patronize the clubs in Vancouver. Industry estimates are that about 30 per cent of Vancouver’s night club clientele are from the Fraser Valley.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, Adrian Grenier, better known at Vincent Chase from the hit HBO TV show Entourage, will be at Jimmy Liks hosting a VIP party to promote his upcoming movie. Tickets to the VIP gala are available at clubvibves.com or by emailing the club.
