Decorworld is expanding not only its square footage, but its services too.
With their move into the former Bakers Dozen building on 29th Street, owners Steve and Lori Dean have an extra 1,500 square feet of showroom to play with.
“We wanted to expand to make it more of a design gallery, rather that just a paint store,” said Lori, a designer for more than 20 years and winner of a Georgie Award for model home design.
Steve specializes in motorized awnings and installations.
In addition to being a local supplier of Benjamin Moore paint products, the Deans plan to place added emphasis on their bedding galleries, window coverings, screen doors and awnings.
Working with Samantha Plovie, a feng shui practitioner, the Deans redesigned their new building space, taking the most minute details into consideration: door placement, location of the paint mix/storage room, individual offices and till area.
“Lori and Steve were brilliantly receptive to using the principles of feng shui to create a space that would work well for their goals,” said Plovie.
“We worked closely in designing every aspect, and have laid out every square footage according to its best use.”
Originally from the Lower Mainland, the Deans moved to Vernon nearly three years ago. With the lease on their former building set to expire early next year, combined with the availability of the Bakers Dozen building, Lori said the timing of the move was ideal.
“The parking is much better at the new location,” she added.
