Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital and Pounce & Hound Fine Pet Goods has opened at 2720 Richter St.

Owned and operated by 14-year veterinarian Dr. Jason Rowan, and his wife Arnica, the business is a combined integrative medicine veterinary hospital and fine pet goods shop all in one.

The young couple offer a full state-of-the-art surgical suite, pharmacy and dentistry hospital. Dr. Rowan practices both conventional and herbal methods of treatment for your furry friends. His focus on preventative health is pretty unique.

The Rowans source the most environmentally and socially responsible products they can find, and know the story behind everything they sell. In the pet goods shop they offer a wide range of hand-crafted goods and local/organic pet foods such as high quality dog and cat food with brands made with Okanagan fruit and vegetables, food dishes, beds, pet toys, collars, life jackets, one ingredient meat treats, water and pet food feeders, and airplane certified travel cases. They even have a candy shop for your pets and Dr. Rowen’s own herbal tinctures (herbal remedies).

There is plenty of parking with a huge parkade at the back of the shop. Call 778-478-7088. www.pandosyvet.com.

Author and former teacher Joanne Swain has published the Life Cycle of the Kokanee Salmon, which she has written for grade levels 2, 3, and 4. She wrote the book because while she was teaching there were very few books written at this level for students to use for research skills that are found in the curriculum. Joanne took all the pictures that are in the book of the spawning salmon which give the children a visual image of what happens as well as the written story. The story is about the kokanee salmon’s life cycle from being laid as an egg in a freshwater stream to returning to that same stream four years later as an adult spawner. The book can be purchased locally at Mosaic Books, on Amazon and Barnes and Noble through the Internet and from Joanne at 250-712-0468.

More than 650 people went through “The House of Clowns” and came out again, mostly screaming. Volunteers were Dan Robinson, Claire Robinson, Freddie Banfield, Tyson Cuylle, Stacey Lukin and Lynsey Stillborn.
