Delta Mayor Lois Jackson was presented with an Award of Excellence for her steadfast commitment and leadership at the local and regional level in supporting emergency preparedness and management, during a ceremony at the B.C. Emergency Preparedness Conference on Nov. 6.
“I am truly honoured and humbled to receive this award,” said Jackson. “The importance of emergency preparedness and executing timely responses to incidents as they occur cannot be understated. It is encouraging to see the progress made at the local and regional levels with respect to coordination and support for emergency preparedness and response.”
The chair of the Emergency Preparedness Conference Executive Committee noted that in her role as Mayor of Delta for the past 13 years and in her previous role as chair of Metro Vancouver, Jackson has supported the development of the Integrated Partnership in Regional Emergency Management (IPREM), and is a strong advocate for emergency management at the elected officials level.
Delta Fire Chief Dan Copeland and Delta Police Chief Const. Jim Cessford accompanied Jackson at the award ceremony.
