Downtown Kelowna is proud to present the first Small Shop at Night, on Thursday June 19 from 4– 9 p.m.
Downtown Kelowna will stay open late to kick-off summer and let visitors explore. Sit on one of the 50 patios, do some shopping, sample free gelato or paint a wine glass as 100 businesses are offering a special sale, demonstration or discount during the promotion to encourage customers to shop within their stores.
Did you know, according to a recent study by Roger Brooks, (an expert in the field of tourism, community branding, downtown development and destination marketing) 70 per cent of all consumer retail spending takes place after 6 p.m.? Canadians are moving towards the European standard of dining and shopping later in the evening.
Live music and entertainment will feature talented local artists placed in different areas of Downtown Kelowna. Plus visit the Laurel Packinghouse for a wine tasting, the Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) Bistro for a free sample of gelato then collect a delicious free handcrafted chocolate at the corner of Bertram Street.
Small Shop at Night will also feature free parking after 2 p.m. at all street level, city owned parking lots and parkades. Free parking makes it easier for the public to join in on this wonderful event.
Downtown Kelowna recognizes that small businesses play a vital role in Kelowna’s local economy, not to mention provide jobs and preserve the Downtown neighbourhood. For every $100 spent, $46 is recirculated back into the local economy (LOCO BC).
Small business is the lifeblood of our community, come Downtown Kelowna on Thursday June 19 and make the pledge to support local.
