Vernon is getting a sneak preview of a development that will anchor itself in the downtown core.

The Hub Downtown, Vernon’s brand new 57-unit apartment condominium residences, celebrated its grand opening June 24 at the presentation centre on 30th Avenue. The building is scheduled to be constructed by the fall of 2018 at 28th Avenue and 34th St.

“Vernon is an under-appreciated gem of the Okanagan having many recreational amenities close by, and when you add all the amenities that downtown Vernon has to offer out your front door, the Hub Downtown was perfect,” said John Ross, president.

“It is also the right time for a project like this. Vernon has not had any new residences in the city for years so there is a void. Also, with current housing stock choices getting old and used, I wanted to introduce the opportunity to offer an affordable housing choice to downtown Vernon with efficient and flexible space without compromising quality.”

Ross added that the development will be close to restaurants, shops, banks, drug stores and Polson Park.

“The Hub Downtown will be Vernon’s first apartment condominium in many years and will comprise of 57 residences,” he said.

“There will be a combination of studio, one bedroom, one bedroom and den and two bedroom suites starting from $139,900. The Hub Downtown will be perfect for a wide variety of buyers including first-time buyers, young downtown professionals, empty-nesters and move-down buyers.”

The building also includes lower level retail space. No tenants have been secured at this time.
