Electricians in the Delta School District have helped schools save more than 1.8 million kWh of electricity per year. That amount is equivalent to powering 163 homes for an entire year.
These savings are the result of roughly 100 small and large electrical projects geared at energy conservation. Projects have included replacing lighting fixtures with more efficient models including fluorescent, induction and LED, as well as installing lighting occupancy sensors to reduce electricity waste.
Over the past seven years, the school district’s Energy Management Team has been acknowledged for their conservation work – receiving various BC Hydro recognition plaques for initiatives ranging from hardwire upgrades to behavioural change campaigns.
