Over the past year, the Enderby Chamber of Commerce has been involved in a variety of economic development initiatives.
These include promoting a Wood First policy, encouraging environmentally progressive property assessments, and advocating for a strong transportation infrastructure. As a membership-driven organization, these economic development priorities originate from its members.
The chamber recently submitted a letter to the City of Enderby outlining its economic development priorities. They will plan to communicate similar information to other levels of government. A variety of priorities have been identified involving many aspects of the local economy, including transportation infrastructure, industrial and commercial land use, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions, downtown revitalization, river stewardship and recycling.
“Our focus on building a progressive economic climate which enhances the prosperity of our business community has identified several areas with tremendous opportunity for innovation and cooperation with government,” said Tate Bengtson, Enderby chamber executive director.
“Local businesses from all sectors are coming to us with vision, aspiration and practical recommendations. Our letter to council is intended to reaffirm our positions, continue our dialogue and deepen our cooperation with the City of Enderby on shared goals.
“I have been pleased with council’s ongoing receptiveness to the needs and ideas of the local business community.”
