Director of store operations Nelson Neves said he has heard three main things walking around Smithers while wearing his Fields shirt: People are glad the store is back, it is good to have another retail choice, and families are saying loud and clear that they needed the store to shop for children’s clothing.
The grand opening for the Fields store on Main Street was held Friday morning at the old Mark’s location. About two dozen people were lined up outside before the 5,700-square-foot store opened.
The Canadian-owned and Delta, B.C.-headquartered company plans on opening an even larger Fields store beside the post office within two years. Neves said it would be 10,000 square feet.
