Staff at Driediger Farms showed off the berry crop at their farmgate store. The established berry farm was one of 14 stops on the annual Circle Farm Tour in Langley on July 14.
This annual event was followed on July 17 by the sixth annual Farmer’s Feast, hosted this year by Krause Berry Farms in Aldergrove’s north Otter area.
There was live music, displays by local farmers and food processors and wineries, horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo, and of course the opportunity to pick your own fresh berries in the fields.
Krause Berry Farms will also host Feast of Fields, FarmFolkCityFolk’s annual fundraising gourmet harvest festival in September. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you can taste the very best of B.C.’s chefs, vintners, brewers, farmers, fishers, ranchers and food artisans – a 40-course meal paired with wine and beer.
It takes place Sunday, Sept. 11, 1-5 p.m. at Krause Berry Farms, 6179-248 St., Langley (www.krauseberryfarms.com). Tickets are $85 (children 7-12 $15; children 6 and under free) online at www.feastoffields.com or in person at all Choices Markets and Krause Berry Farms. Event website: www.feastoffields.com, and info: 604-730-0450 ext 304.
Farming remains a key industry in Langley Township and the Township produces about 40 per cent of the Fraser Valley region’s agricultural output.
