A green technologies company that has partnered with 10 Abbotsford greenhouses has been awarded a $480,800 contract from the federal government.
Abbotsford MP and minister of international trade Ed Fast announced the contract to NovaBioRubber Green Technologies Inc. last week – on behalf of the minister of public works and government services – which was awarded under the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP).
NovaBioRubber, a Canadian-owned company, develops sustainable technologies to manufacture products such as natural rubber, latex and inulin. The company is partnered with 10 Abbotsford greenhouses in which rubber-bearing plants such as Russian dandelions and Scorzonera tau-saghyz are grown.
NovaBioRubber is becoming a player in Canada’s future as a producer of environmentally friendly rubber. As NovaBioRubber continues to improve its technology, it is expected that these innovations will deliver additional opportunities for Abbotsford farmers to produce environmentally sustainable products.
The BCIP helps Canadian businesses get their world-leading goods and services from the lab to the marketplace.
