Fernie Pizza and Pasta recently reached a milestone that has taken their business to the next level.
On Friday, June 22, they celebrated the opening of their new dine-in restaurant.
Having previously offered strictly take-out, the pizza business took over what used to be Poison Apple Tattoo next door and transformed it into a diner.
Now, Fernie Pizza and Pasta, located just off Highway 3, will be open to seat approximately 45 pizza-lovers for dinner, Wednesday to Sunday.
“It’s just more convenient for the people,” said co-owner Tej Sran, when asked what inspired this change.
The pizza shop also just received their liquor license, the final necessary ingredient before officially opening their dine-in doors.
“We’re happy it’s done,” said co-owner Nina Sran.
“And it turned out better than we even could have imagined.”
But that’s not all. Come July 1, Fernie Pizza and Pasta will be switching over to their summer hours, which means they will be open for lunch at 12 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday.
They will remain open until 10 p.m. during weekdays and 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Srans say that the support from the community over the past four years has been nothing short of incredible.
“People are really nice, people are easy to deal with. All positives.”
Now that they have been open for a few years, the family has found that Fernie, unlike some other towns, has two busy seasons, so business never slows down.
The Srans haven’t always been in the pizza business.
When they moved to Fernie in 2005, they took over the Fernie Super 8 hotel.
They sold the hotel in 2008, and six years later, as their children were starting to grow up, Nina and Tej decided to start a business together.
They haven’t looked back since.
