Fun park in Parksville re-opens mini-golf course

Owners say they will follow physical distancing guidelines

Paradise Mini Golf and Fun Park in Parksville re-opened for business today (May 15).

Giuseeppe Lafauci, who co-owns the business with wife Susan, said when the COVID-19 pandemic started they closed their operations and kept it shut for a couple of months.

“Nobody told us to close but we did it,” said Lafauci. “I think it’s time to open. We’re starting slowly just for the mini-golf and we’ll see how it goes. The game room and the bumper boats will remain closed.”

Lafauci said they will strictly enforce the physical distancing guidelines set by federal and provincial health authorities.

“We will keep people playing every second hole here and they should be fine,” said Lafauci. “It’s 20 feet away so that’s how we’re going to do it.”

While the fun park was closed for two months, the Lafauci’s RV park remained opened but kept bathrooms and other amenities closed.

“People have been stopping here,” said Lafauci. “They have their own bathrooms and everything so I didn’t have to worry about it.”

Despite having the RV park opened as well as their Paradise Seashell Motel, Lafauci said it has been a tough two months for them.

“It’s a struggle,” said Lafauci. “We have bills to pay and stuff like everyone else, I guess.”

This May long weekend is often one of the busiest time for Paradise Mini Golf and Fun Park but this year they’re expecting things to be less hectic.

“We have 10 RVs coming in and that’s about it,” said Lafauci. “Normally we’d have around 30 RVs during the May long weekend. A lot of people cancelled. So I am 20 short.”

Mini-golf opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
