An $8,000 grant received from the Canadian Welding Association Foundation has been a big benefit to the welding program at Clearwater Secondary School, according to teacher Dayton Fraser.
“It’s just had a huge impact for safety, learning and production,” he said.
The money was used to purchase a new Miller Mig welder, welding curtains, safety gear such as welding jackets, and consumables such as welding gases, wire and material for the shop’s CNC (computer numeric controled) plasma cutter.
The foundation has also provided welding helmets and jackets that were not included in the grant.
