Twelve signs, part of a Historical Walking Tour, written and researched by Val Patenaude, director of the Maple Ridge Museum, will also be on display as part of the downtown celebration.  Bearing reproductions of photos from the museum archives, the signs will be attached to existing poles throughout the core area and are intended to complement the six mosaics built into Lougheed Highway and 224th Street as part of the downtown renos. “Essentially, it’s aimed at helping people remember where stuff was.” For instance, until the 1980s, Maple Ridge municipal hall was on 224th Street, in what’s now Memorial Peace Park. The fire hall used to be next door. The signs cost about $100 each, and resist vandalism.
