Adrian and Debbie Patton have come a long way to open their new store in Cadboro Bay.

The couple – who purchased Bambino’s in Cadboro Bay Village, renaming it Humble Pie Boutique – come all the way from Mexico.

“All my family on my dad’s side is Canadian and my family on my mom’s side is Mexican,” said Debbie, whose grandparents and cousins live in the Victoria area. “So I’ve been coming to Victoria practically since I was born. When I had my children, I felt there was no better place to raise children than here.”

And once they had settled on the Island, Patton knew she wanted to open a clothing store.

“I love fashion, I love the trends. I have this idea that one can be fashionable but comfortable at the same time.”

She said Humble Pie will specialize in women’s clothing.

“It will be very local, Canadian design, sort of a West Coast feel for the clothing. I’m also bringing in children’s clothing. It will be from all over the world, but with very unique designs.”

Humble Pie officially opened on Sunday.

“I’m having a huge 60-70 per cent off sale for the first week of May,” she said, adding the store will then close for two weeks before reopening May 20.

“We are going to remodel and revamp, give the store a new design, with an exposed industrial kind of feel and try to bring the outside in. It will be very natural,” said Patton.
