J. Puddleduck Preschool wins legacy award

One of the Valley's oldest preschools has been nominated for a provincial award.

One of the Valley’s oldest preschools has been nominated for a provincial award.

J. Puddleduck Preschool/Day Care has won the Child Care Legacy Award – an award that recognizes child care facilities that have been active for more than 40 years in B.C.

Linda Foster, the manager of J. Puddleduck, says their success comes from her dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the preschool and day care for 20 years or more.

“Our staff is very consistent and it has enabled us to put together a program that’s a quality program that we support, the kids enjoy and the parents appreciate,” she said.

J. Puddleduck offers preschool programs in the mornings and day care in the afternoon, which Foster says gives each child more one on one time with the staff.

In total, 18 child care facilities received the legacy award, while another 10 organizations and providers were honoured with the 2018 Child Care Awards of Excellence.

“Congratulations to this year’s award recipients. Your passion, talent and dedication are an inspiration to us all,” said Sandra Menzer, chair of the Provincial Child Care Council, in a press release. “You deserve our thanks for the important work that you do for children and families across B.C.”
