No time like the present to get into the Christmas spirit, and there are a few cool business-oriented or business-sponsored events you might want to know about.
First off, the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual holiday dinner meeting next Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Cascades Casino.
And once again, this event promises some live entertainment – in the form of celebrity impersonator Bonnie Kilroe.
But the highlight of the night is alwasy the presentation of this year’s H.D. Stafford Good Citizen of the Year award. Last year’s recipient was Gordon Zacher.
As usual, networking starts at 5 p.m., with dinner and entertainment starting at 6:30.

Sponsoring families
In the meantime, the grand opening of L’amour de soi’s nail salon at 20419 Douglas Cres. happens Friday, Dec. 8 and it has a festive fundraising component.
They’re hosting a gift basket raffle that will benefit Infinite Expansion Foundation and three families that L’amour will be sponsoring this Christmas.
Likewise, High Road Langley, the Ducati dealership in town, is hosting a customer appreciation party on Wednesday, Dec. 13. They too are incorporating a fundraiser to help sponsor a family this Christmas. A Toonie allows guests to participate in a wine bottle ring toss.

Breakie for breast cancer
Once again, Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery is hosting its annual pancake breakfast with Santa this Sunday, Dec. 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
And as always, this event is a fundraiser for breast cancer research in memory of Liz Krause.
“This is one of our biggest events of the year,” said Sandee Krause. “Santa himself will be here to visit the kids, hear their wishes, and hand out candy canes.”
It’s a first-come, first-serve event. There are no tickets sold in advance.

Coats can still come in
Gently used coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and other winter woolies are on their way to people in need this winter – thanks in part to Langley businesses and generous Langley residents.
The Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association wrapped up its annual Coats for Kids campaign with the delivery of 6,500 items to the Lower Mainland and Surrey Christmas Bureaus.
“The generosity and Christmas cheer could be felt throughout the room,” GVHBA CEO Bob de Wit said, watching Dick’s Lumber volunteer elves organizing all the donations.
“Joining together, you see the collective impact, and it warms your heart.”
For those who didn’t have time to clean out their closet before the GVHBA Coats for Kids campaign, de Wit said there’s still time to donate directly to the local Christmas bureau or to Benchmark Homes Ltd., Centra Construction Group; Country Lumber Ltd., Trail Appliances, or Kitchen Craft of Canada in Langley.
