The Ladysmith Downtown Business Association (LDBA) and the Ladysmith & District Credit Union have teamed up to bring a little extra joy to the holiday shopping season with their shop local initiative.
The credit union has donated $1,500 to sponsor the five week program. Every week until December 18, the LDBA will draw a lucky winner to receive $300 in LDBA Bucks that are valid at any LDBA member business.
“The initative aims to get people to come out and support our local businesses,” LDBA president, Andrea Rosato-Taylor said.
LDBA businesses will be open later on Friday nights until December 18. Ladysmith’s streets are aglow with lights and decorations that’ll make for a festive evening downtown.
“I know that COVID is hard on everybody, and certainly it’s been extremely hard on our local merchants, but this is still a joyous time. If you’re walking in downtown Ladysmith you wouldn’t know we’re in a pandemic because it looks as beautiful as ever,” Rosato-Taylor said.
COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at all downtown businesses, and masks will be mandatory for all shoppers as required by the provincial mask mandate.
Entrance slips for the LDBA $300 are available at all participating LDBA member businesses. All shoppers have to do is write down their information on an entrace slip, place it in the box, and cross their fingers.
Winners will be contacted by the LDBA to pick up their $300 prize.
