The name of Surrey Memorial Hospital’s new critical-care tower’s lobby has been named in honour of one of the hospital foundation’s largest donors.
The lobby is now named the Lorraine and Ralph Berezan Lobby, after the Berezans donated $2 million to the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Ralph Berezan is a well-known businessman and entrepreneur in the Fraser Valley – he was once co-owner of the Surrey Eagles junior hockey club – and has been a member of the hospital foundation’s board of directors for five years.
The Berezans’ donation is part of the hospital’s Building Foundation’s Campaign, the funds from which will be used to purchase equipment needed for the critical-care tower, which is expected to open in June 2014.
