Local businesses support charitable organizations

Capri Insurance golf tourney helps out the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs.

The 24th annual Capri Charity Golf Classic was recently held in support of the programs and services provided by the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs.

The tournament was held at the Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna, featuring18 holes of golf along with a lunch, dinner and prizes.

This year’s tournament raised more than $36,000 for the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs.

Golfers, volunteers and sponsors alike enjoyed a fun-filled day participating in activities sponsored by KalTire, Tinhorn Creek Winery, Total Restoration, Belfor Property Restoration, Winmar, Milestones, Moxies, Intact Insurance, Stutters Restoration, RBC and Tree Brewing.

Capri Insurance has been the title sponsor of this event since 2006 and has raised close to $270,000 supporting the work of Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs.

It is corporate support like this that helps us to give children and youth the best possible opportunity to learn and grow to be successful, contributing people in our communities,” said Richelle Leckey, events coordinator for the Okanagnan Boys and Girls Clubs.

For more than 55 years the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club  has been a leading provider of programs to children and youth that support the healthy physical, educational and social development of more than 6,000 young people and their families each year.

 

Hospice helper

On Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prospera Place parking lot, Ricardo Scebba, chef of Ricardo’s Restaurant in Lake Country, will create authentic Neapolitan -style woodfire oven pizzas for $10 each, with all proceeds to benefit the Central Okanagan Hospice Association.

Scebba was raised in Windsor, Ont., and has been chef/owner of Ricardo’s Mediterranean Kitchen since 2001.

Ricardo’s has won multiple restaurant and customer service awards.
