Long & McQuade gives the gift of music

Foster children benefit from generous Whalley store.

The Children’s Foundation, located in Whalley only one block from the Long & McQuade store, would like to express it’s appreciation to Long & McQuade.

For the past two years  Dan LaPierre, sales staff,  has generously loaned the Foundation 12 hand drums on five different occasions for its drum circles. The participants are foster children, whose caregivers often work within limited budgets, and it is doubtful the Foundation could have provided this experience without Long & McQuade’s assistance.

The experience has been invaluable for the children, musically and socially, and for many was just the beginning of their pursuing other musical interests/outlets.

Rebecca Van Drunen, the lesson centre coordinator, has just awarded The Children’s Foundation  the second annual Music Bursary, which provides eight free music lessons to a  foster child that shows unusual musical aptitude. Last year’s recipient chose guitar lessons; this years recipient has chosen voice, piano and guitar.

Thank you, Long & McQuade for being a good corporate neighbour and helping us to make a difference in the lives of these children.
