Boat owners in Ladysmith and the surrounding area will no longer need to travel to Nanaimo or Duncan to purchase equipment and accessories with the opening of a new ship chandlery at 1030 Oyster Bay Drive.
Ocean Marine Center, a retail and wholesale marine chandlery will supply a full range of marine equipment and accessories for all types of marine craft from pleasure boats to commercial ships.
Owner Keven Ratcliff, who previously managed Nanaimo Marine Centre, said when it came to choosing a location to open his business, Ladysmith was the natural choice.
“There are close to 1,000 boats that moor in Ladysmith Harbour. Currently owners need to travel to Nanaimo or Duncan to purchase equipment, accessories, and supplies. We are also easily accessible. Our staff have more than 20 years experience in the marine industry.”
The chandlery opens on Friday, April 8.
