The sixth annual MISTIC (Mid-Island Science Technology and Innovation Council) Innovation Awards on November 2 will celebrate the achievements of local innovators.
This year, the Honourable Steven L. Point, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia will be attending the awards for the first time as the guest of honour.
The awards recognize the successes of businesses from across Vancouver Island (Malahat North to the tip of the Island), the Sunshine Coast and Gulf Islands. There are 33 businesses that are up for awards in 12 categories this year.
The winners of the MISTIC Awards will be announced at an Oscar-style gala on November 2 at 6 p.m. at the Nanaimo Conference Centre. Ticket information for the awards can be found online at www.mistic.ca
“The MISTIC Awards are about recognizing the achievements of local businesses and individuals who are pushing boundaries in technology and innovation,” said Paris Gaudet, Executive Director, MISTIC. “We are delighted to have the Honourable Steven L. Point at the awards this year when our sixth group of award winners are announced.”
MISTIC’s Innovation Island Tradeshow is the lead-up to the Innovation Awards. The tradeshow is an all-day public event on November 2 (8 a.m. – 2 p.m.) at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre and admission is free. Experience first-hand the innovative products and services that are manufactured right here on Vancouver Island.
This year’s keynote speakers are Harmac President Levi Sampson and Basil Peters, M&A Advisor, Exit Coach and Angel Investor will share their experiences as inspirational leaders in their fields of expertise.
Exhibitors at the tradeshow will have the opportunity to be nominated for the coveted “People’s Choice Award” which will be announced at the evening Award ceremony. Exhibitors can register for a booth at www.mistic.ca.
MISTIC is the only council north of Victoria that encourages growth of the knowledge-based industries through programs, business coaching and support for their ideas.
