Mixed building eyed for empty lot in Brookswood

Township council approved a development permit for 20083 40 Ave. for commercial on bottom and residential on top.

An empty piece of land where Brookswood Heating once operated is getting a new look.

On Oct. 17, Township council approved a development permit application from Kerr Properties to build a three-storey mixed commercial/residential building at 20083 40 Ave. in Brookswood.

The building will include three commercial units on the main floor, and five two-level rental apartments on the second and third floors.

There will be 28 parking spaces provided — 13 surface and 15 underground — and the architectural design will be a “heritage theme,” featuring cement board siding and shingles; asphalt roof shingles; cultured stone; grid windows; heritage colours in white, grey and blue; copper clad roof cupolas; and high pitched gables and roofs.

The Langley School District estimates this new development will generate one new student for Belmont Elementary.
