On Thursday, June 20, Mountain High Adventures opened the doors to their new Adventure Centre, built out of a mega Yurt at Fernie RV Resort.
Now a permanent fixture in the campground, the centre will offer any tool necessary to take full advantage of the adventures Fernie has to offer.
Their new location open in time for their 25th anniversary, which happens next year.
“We’re really excited,” said Jon Knauf, co-owner alongside Mark Hatch. “It’s been a definite group effort to get things going to where we’re at today. Family, staff, a lot of good ideas and a lot of hard work.”
“It looks like it’s going to be a good long-term home for us.”
The adventure centre now offers a large variety of services including guided white water rafting full day excursions, SUP, inflatable kayak and canoe rentals, stand up paddle boards, fat bikes and more.
A fondue dinner after a ski, snowshoe or fat bike adventure will also be in order for anyone who stops by the centre. Island Farms ice cream after a long day on the river may also be served.
“We’ve always felt there’s been a need, for a lack of better words, a one-stop shop for adventure, year-round in Fernie,” said Knauf.
The group has partnered with several local businesses including Gearhub, Fernie Wilderness Adventures, Sidehill Snowmobile Rentals, and others.
“We’ve always been experts in river-based adventures… and now we are evolving into land, snow and air,” explained Knauf.
Asked what air adventures he was speaking of, Knauf excitedly explained that they also offer heli-rafting.
