Jason Neale is the top techie at Accelerate Okanagan Technology Association.
Neale, who has a background in cellular technology, digital networks and satellite systems, was appointed CEO of the not-for-profit organization. He is the founder of OmniGlobe Networks, a service provider of broadband internet and cellular service to remote regions around the world.
Formed in late 2010 through the amalgamation of the Okanagan Research and Innovation Centre (ORIC) and the Okanagan Science and Technology Council (OSTEC), Accelerate Okanagan is a technology-focused organization with a mission to increase the number of technology companies that start and grow in the Okanagan.
“(Neale) brings a wealth of valuable entrepreneurial experience that will support the growth of local technology companies and inspire people to start and grow technology companies,” said Douglas Corbishley, chair of Accelerate Okanagan.
Under Neale’s leadership, OmniGlobe became the fastest growing technology company in Canada in 2007 and was ranked in the top-10 Deloitte Fast 50 Technology companies in 2010. It sold in early 2011.
Neale holds a PhD in electrical systems engineering from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, as well as executive MBAs from London Business School, and Columbia Business School.
