Comox’s newest winery — 40 Knots Estate Winery on Anderton Road — opened its tasting room doors to the public on the recent long weekend and the response was overwhelming.

Winery owner Bill Montgomery said that he is so pleased to see the response from the public, especially from the neighboring locals who have been watching the winery develop over the past six years.

“I can’t believe what a positive response we have gotten from the local community,” he says. “It was terrific to see friends and neighbors meeting here at the winery and sharing our wines with their friends and out of town guests.”

Marnie Martin, director of sales and marketing, says that on the first day the doors were open, over 150 people came in — with guests from as far away as South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

The winery’s tasting room will be open from noon to 5 Friday to Sunday until the end of the Labour Day weekend or by appointment for larger parties and functions by calling 250-941-8810.

Stop by and say hello and sample some of their pinot gris, chardonnay, pinot noir or rosé or find them on the web at www.40KnotsWinery.com.
