The local chapter of the Business and Professional Women of Canada installed its new officers June 22.

Guest speaker Karen Davison presented a power point on food security in Mission, illustrating how members and other residents could become involved in food security initiatives, such as community kitchens, gleaning, farmers market and community gardens. President Heather Stewart presented Mission’s 2010 Woman of the Year, Ann Senae, with an honourary club membership.

Serving on the board are Heather Stewart (president), Jenny Stevens (past-present), Myrna Matthews (vice-president), Mady Pechler (corresponding secretary), Barbara Fehrmann (recording secretary), and Pia Ritch (treasurer).

BPW Mission members meet at Cedarbrooke Chateau on the fourth Wednesday of each month, with the exception of the July meeting.

Doors open at 11:15 a.m., lunch is served at 11:45 a.m., and the program runs until 1 p.m. This year the July event will be a picnic in Fraser River Heritage Park.
