McDonald’s is pleased to announce that Sid and Daphne Johnson have been named the newest owner operators in the Abbotsford community, taking over four McDonald’s restaurants from Chuck Vertes, who will continue to operate restaurants in Aldergrove.
“Sid and Daphne Johnson have done an excellent job as Franchisees in Alberta, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Sid over the years” said Chuck Vertes. “I am happy to pass on the torch to this young couple who share my commitment for the local community”.
Johnson and Vertes share a long history together. As a 19-year old, Sid Johnson began working with Vertes as a Restaurant Manager at one of Vertes’ McDonald’s restaurants in Leduc, Alberta.
In 1991, Vertes offered Johnson and his wife, Daphne, an opportunity to move to Abbotsford, BC where Sid played an integral role helping to grow Vertes’ business from one to six McDonald’s restaurants. In 2005, Johnson teamed up with his wife to own and operate McDonald’s restaurants located in Wetaskiwin and Camrose, Alberta prior to returning to Abbotsford.
“My wife and I are thrilled to be back in Abbotsford, to continue Chuck Vertes’ legacy of community support and provide customers and staff a great experience at our restaurants,” said Sid Johnson.
The four McDonald’s restaurants now under Sid and Daphne Johnson’s ownership include:
