The Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre has a couple of fancy new signs thanks to the provincial Jobs, Tourism and Innovation fund.
“The province sent us a note that we were getting a cheque for $7,500 to use for pretty much anything,” said chamber executive director Kim Burden.
They looked at what would best help draw people into the chamber office and visitor’s centre, located at 1275 East Island Highway and decided their 16-year-old sign could use some help.
They managed to get Scott Signs to build them a whole new one that he was able to tie in with the theme and look of last year’s big Welcome sign on the highway and other city signs around town.
MLA Ron Cantelon, acting mayor Sue Powell and the the chamber board were on hand Friday for the unveiling.
“As I can tell you from my days in real estate, the sign is everything,” Cantelon said.
