New website for Langley airport

Township creates new website for Langley Regional Airport

For almost 80 years, Langley Regional Airport (YNJ) has been moving people and products, providing training, supplying jobs, and serving as a vibrant economic hub in the Township of Langley.

Now the world-class centre for the aviation and helicopter industry, which is currently undergoing a modernizing face-lift, has a new website that highlights all it has to offer and will make it easier for pilots, businesses, and visitors to access information.

The standalone website at ynj.tol.ca was created by the Township of Langley to enhance public awareness of the important role the airport plays in the community and the many services it provides.

“The launch of the newly minted airport website is a significant milestone for the Langley Regional Airport,” said Airport manager Guy Miller.

“Staff have been working on the website project as a foundational piece in the effort to rebrand and modernize the entire airport,” he said.

“The site’s contemporary look and feel and its mobile-ready design is essential and exactly what we are looking for. Langley Regional Airport is a thriving business community and our marketing campaign is absolutely critical to the success of the airport. The website is one of the main pieces of that campaign.”

Langley Regional Airport features 55 aviation businesses that offer everything from chartered helicopter and fixed-wing flights to aerospace innovation, parts manufacturing, and maintenance. The facility is also home to the Canadian Museum of Flight, provides scenic aerial tours, hosts special events, and is a popular film production destination.

Through the new website, visitors can book a flight, access the on-site business directory, and learn about opportunities for growth, development, and hanger and office space leasing from any device. Pilots can view information on the airport’s capability and operations, fuel services, USA/Canada customs, flight planning, and weather reports. Information is also offered on training opportunities, aviation clubs, and other attractions in the surrounding area.

Created by the Township’s IT staff, the ynj.tol.ca site is the first piece of a new e-government platform being unveiled by the municipality that will include the launch of a brand new tol.ca website by the end of the year.

“Technology is constantly evolving and it is changing the way we do business,” said Steve Scheepmaker, the Township’s senior manager of information technology.

“We want to be a leader when it comes to using technology and enhancing digital interactions between the municipality, our residents, businesses, and visitors.”

The transactional capabilities of the Township’s website are being improved to make interactions more efficient and information simpler to get to. Whether signing up for swimming lessons, paying for a business licence, or expressing their opinions, those using the new Township website will only need one username and one password to access everything.
