Regional tourism summit on tap

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) is accepting registrations for its tourism summit, which goes March 25-27 at Quaaout Lodge in Chase.

Following the theme Embracing Our Potential, this year’s speakers will draw from the recently released 10-year tourism strategy, specifically speaking to the five core strategic experience-based themes. They will be providing inspiration and the tools to make business changes to increase the region’s tourism success beyond the two-month summer peak season.

TOTA will also be hosting its AGM, as well as the Tourism Excellence Awards as part of a gala dinner event. The association is once again partnering with the National Aboriginal Tourism Conference, with registrants for both events receiving an additional 10 per cent off the early-bird price.

Keynote speaker topics include the Provincial Venture Capital Program by David Baleshta; Embrace Our Business Financial Potential by Wayne Henrickson; and Online Reputation Management for Operators by Daniel Edward Craig.

The early-bird rate is $425 (plus tax) for individuals registering before March 1. For more information, visit www.totabc.org/summit

Vernon’s Elliot Lysyk is adding to his list of health and wellness modalities with the opening of a new yoga studio at Arise Chiropractic in the Alpine Centre.

Called Arise Yoga, the new studio augments the chiropractic care, massage and Pilates already on offer.

Headed by Lisa Dumas, the yoga studio features a range of instructors offering everything from Anusara yoga to restorative yoga for athletes and active adults recovering from skiing, hiking or biking adventures.

Other classes include yoga for teens, yoga for stiff guys and yoga for mommies. The latter is an evening class for busy women with families and jobs who want something that is just for them.
