Ocean Park fundraiser brings in $2,500

Shredathon proceeds to go towards new South Surrey playground

An Ocean Park fundraiser last month brought in $2,500 towards a new playground for Ocean Cliff Elementary.

The second-annual Shred-A-Thon was held June 1 in the Ocean Park Safeway parking lot. Members of the community came by with documents to have confidential documents shredded for free.

Shredding services were provided by Tino Fluckinger, owner of 1-800-Shredding, with all proceeds supporting the new build, which will cost more than $80,000 to complete.

The current playground is 20 years old.
