Oceanside Women’s Business Network elects new board

Organization seeks new members to join

The Oceanside Women’s Business Network has a new board of directors and wants to get the word out about what they do and who they are.

The network, which started approximately 30 years ago, is a non-profit society aiming to connect women in the area interested or involved in business.

“OWBN provides networking opportunities for mutual support of women and their endeavours. Our group encourages women to promote their business and learn from each other all while sharing business experiences,” said president Sandy McLary. “As a network, we are stronger together and no other time has put us to test than during this pandemic where we are continuing to support each other as we navigate the challenges of COVID-19.”

McLary said their doors are open to all women, not just ones involved directly involved in local business.

“Members of other women’s business networks on Vancouver Island are invited to attend our meetings at the members’ rates,” she said. “In fact, all women, whether business or not, are welcome. We encourage you to attend a meeting to explore career and business ideas, and to get to know other women in the community.”

Throughout the year, the network meets on the third Tuesday of each month, September to June. Their next dinner meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2020, at The Bayside Resort as long as their social distancing protocols are approved.
