Harry Doering has earned a lot of praise for his work since moving to Vernon from Ontario three years ago.
Doering, owner of Doering Building Group, received his latest accolade for the professional building, 27th Street Medical Office, which was among the winners at the sixth annual Southern Interior Construction Association (SICA) Commercial Building Awards.
The project also received a gold Tommie Award from the Canadian Home Builders Association in the Commercial Urban Infill category.
Owned by Dr. Jason O’Brien and Dr. Paul Dooley, and designed by Darrin Collie, the building’s modern design features shed-style roof lines with exposed woodwork on both the exterior and interior. There is also a roof-top terrace.
It replaced a pair of houses on the lot, and since its completion, two neighbouring properties have been redeveloped, revitalizing the entire block.
Doering has won Tommies for earlier projects as well, including three silver awards for a home at Silver Star, and another silver Tommie for a model home in Vernon.
The SICA awards, sponsored by Re/Max Commercial and Fortis B.C., highlight the best commercial and industrial properties built between Jan. 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014 in the Thompson, Okanagan and Kootenay regions.
Awards are presented in 12 categories.
