Okanagan Crush Pad adds new members to team

The new winemakers are joining in time for the harvest.

Okanagan Crush Pad Winery is adding two members to their winemaking team.

Steve Latchford and Lynzee Schatz join chief winemaker Matt Dumayne at the Summerland winery. Latchford will manage custom crush client wines and Schatz will oversee the winery’s production of sparkling wine.

“We have very strong new arrivals to the cellar with decades of experience and expect to process more than 600 tons of grapes this coming harvest. We know that Steve and Lynzee will help us push quality to even greater heights,” said Christine Coletta, owner of the Okanagan Crush Pad Winery.

Latchford was born in Ontario and has spent his education and career working at Canadian wineries. He has spent the last decade working in the Okanagan Valley. Schatz was raised in Kelowna, and received her Bachelor in Wine Science from the Charles Sturt University in Australia, before travelling and working at wineries all over the world.

The new team members replace departing newlyweds Jordan Kubek and Tyler Knight, who, along with Ron Kubek, will be opening their own winery in Summerland next year.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to see Jordan and Tyler moving on to such an exciting future. They have played key roles in making OCP a success story and we thank them for their passion and commitment,” said Coletta.
