Open house at Langley campus of KPU Nov. 9

Local campus offers nursing, horticulture, beer making and more

The Langley campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is throwing open its doors to the public for its first open house on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

KPU Langley will be a hub of activity, creativity, and inspiration. Visitors can check out interactive exhibits, attend info sessions, connect with instructors, students, and alumni, and take a campus tour.

While learning about what sets a polytechnic university apart, visitors will be able to listen to musicians from the music department, get their blood pressure tested by nursing students, see the life-sized computer controlled dummy in the nursing lab, and play a game of life-sized chess with the Kwantlen Student Association.

Visitors can also explore a horticulture field lab with gardens, greenhouses, an in-ground nursery and botany lab or they can walk the greens of the turf training facility. Those who are 19 years or older can even sample beer in the KPU brew lab.

Attendees can win prizes —including a $500 tuition waiver—by tweeting and posting to Instagram using the hashtag #KPUOpenHouse.

“We’re delighted to invite the community to our Langley campus’ first open house,” said KPU President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Alan Davis.

“Join us and see the unique programs and innovative approaches to hands-on education and learning opportunities outside the classroom that a polytechnic university provides.”

There will be prizes, live entertainment, trivia and games, a photo booth, and henna art.

Register before Nov. 2 for the chance to win early bird prizes at kpu.ca/openhouse.

KPU Langley is located at 20901 Langley Bypass. Parking is free for this event. For more information, contact the KPU Future Students’ Office at 604-599-3030 or email openhouse@kpu.ca.
