Orange Door Project supports homeless and at-risk youth

Customer driven fundraiser on until June 24 at Langley Home Depot

From now until June 24, Langley Home Depot is selling paper orange doors for $2 each.

All funds raised through the campaign will be donated to Encompass Support Services Society, to help in its efforts to assist at-risk and homeless youth.

Funds raised will help provide services and housing to individual homeless or at-risk youth struggling with housing each year.

“Every night in neighbourhoods across the country more than 6,000 youth don’t have a safe place to call home. That is why 100 per cent of every customer donation goes directly to helping youth impacted by this very serious issue,” said Jeff Kinnaird, chair of the Home Depot Canada Foundation board of directors.

“Thanks to the support of our communities, we’re helping vulnerable and homeless youth realize brighter futures, one orange door at a time.”

Through the Orange Door Project fundraising campaign, the Home Depot Canada Foundation supports 120 organizations that are committed to preventing and ending youth homelessness across the country.

Customers can also make online donations at www.orangedoorproject.ca.

Encompass Support Services Society (formerly Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services Society) is a social service organization that provides housing supports to youth through its Youth Homelessness Initiative, which connects with youth up to the age of 25 that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and provide supports to stabilize their housing situation.

Its’ Youth Street Outreach Worker also helps youth to navigate through challenges and barriers that are creating instability or loss of housing and supports them to work towards securing a safe and stable place to live. It also has an emergency receiving home.
