Ground has been broken on the construction of Otter Co-op’s newest project.
The new location will included a 7,200 square foot building, gas bar, convenience store, warehouse, bulk petroleum office, cardlock facility and bulk plant.
Work began on Monday (Feb. 3) and the project is expected to be completed by the fall. It will employ about 20 to 25 people.
Aldergrove was Otter Co-op’s first location and the new Chilliwack facility will be the 17th.
This expansion is being undertaken to expand the services and products to Co-op members, and to prepare for the future growth the bulk petroleum department has been experiencing throughout the Lower Mainland. The construction contract has been awarded to Petrocom Construction Limited. This location will add sales in excess of $70 million a year to Otter Co-op’s petroleum division, and produce a healthy bottom line which in turn is given back to Co-op members through equity and cash.
Over the past five years, Otter Co-op members have earned in excess of $17 million in cash and equity, and continue to share in the rewards of a locally owned company.
