This weekend sees our clocks going forward an hour even though it seems like just yesterday that we were putting them back an hour.
It is also a busy few weeks ahead on the West Shore so be sure to mark some of these fun activities into your calendar.
The wait is over, Ashley Furniture is open at 1652 Old Island Hwy., right beside KMS Tools. The new show room is huge and filled with some exciting furniture.
Ma Miller’s Pub has reopened under new management and Jessica is thrilled to be part of the community. The pub will be open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 9 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Ma Miller’s Pub is located at 2903 Sooke Lake Rd. and has a family section.
Happy Homebrewer (101–3145 Jacklin Rd.) is once again open for business after a six-month hiatus due to a fire last June. They’re planning an official grand reopening at a later date, so keep an eye out for more details. In the meantime, Duncan welcomes everyone to stop by and see their new space and says this is a great time to get your beer and wine started for those hot summer nights.
Tonight’s Westshore Chamber Mixer will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion from 5 to 7 p.m.
On March 11, Jason Scott’s Diamond Forever, a celebration of Neil Diamond, will take place at the Langford Legion, 761 Station Ave. The show will start at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at the bar.
Sooke Philharmonic will be hosting Maestro Mozart on Saturday, March 19, at the Sooke Baptist Church, 7110 West Coast Rd., and in Colwood on March 20 at 2:30 pm at John Stubbs Memorial school, 301 Zealous Cres.

The Metchosin Golf Course, 4100 Metchosin Rd., welcomes back their favourite Celtic band, Knackers Yard. Music runs from 7 to 9:15 p.m. on Friday, March 19. Admission is $5 and goes to the musicians, with the kitchen and bar opening at 5:30 p.m. This promises to be a fun lively start to the weekend.
The Q Centre will play host to the Pinty Grand Slam of Curling from March 17 at 10 a.m. until March 20 at 6 p.m. To learn more about this event log on to thegrandslamofcurling.com/curling/elite-10.
On Sunday, March 20, there will be a mind, body and spirit fair at the Langford Legion, 761 Station Ave., from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Proceeds from the $2 entry fee will go to Women In Need, and vendors will be offering services such as: reiki, cranial sacral therapy, crystal healing, card and palm reading, mediumship and sound healing. Snacks and refreshments will be available to purchase.
