Six tons of paper were shredded over four hours at a recent fundraiser for the Sources White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank held at the Semiahmoo Shopping Centre.
The “get shredded” organizers, the shopping centre, food bank and the District 5 RCMP office, said the Sept. 15 event collected $3,000 in cash and 657 pounds in donated food.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. people were encouraged to bring their documents for safe and secure on-site shredding from 1-800-SHREDDING.
Donations of cash or non-perishable food items to the food bank were encouraged.
The 1-800 SHREDDING truck chewed through six tons of paper, which can be recycled to save an estimated 150 mature trees.
