For the eighth straight year, Vancouver Island grocer Quality Foods has been selected from thousands of applicants as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and retains its prestigious accreditation as a Best Managed Platinum member in 2014.
“2014 was a crucial year for us; we expanded to WestShore area in Victoria at last,” Ken Schley, QF’s Director of Operations and founding partner, said through a news release.
“When we open a new location it’s important to recognize where our growth is coming from, our hard-working and loyal QF people. From there, growth stems from our commitment to supporting local communities, innovations that improve our customers’ shopping experiences, and meaningful relationships with national brands and local suppliers.”
Quality Foods has become known for practical innovations in the grocery industry, said the release.
“We were one of the first in Canada to offer both online shopping and a points reward program, plus My Daily Special which allows customers to pick a non-flyer item for a personal sale price,” said Shawn Tomczyk, QF’s Director of Information Systems.
“More recently, we introduced a unique, and so far as we know, unduplicated smartphone app that connects customer selected deals seamlessly to any QF checkout.”
Best Managed has recognized world-class Canadian businesses since 1993 and has become one of the nation’s elite business awards programs.
“We’re thrilled,” said Schley.
“Platinum membership means we are continuing to adapt and grow in changing environments, and that we have been able to stay in pretty good company for an extended period of time. We’re proud of this designation and we know that being recognized in this way means a lot to all of our QF people and to our customers.”
Quality Foods is an independent grocer operating 12 award-winning stores on Vancouver Island and Powell River.
