A Semiahmoo Peninsula real estate agent has received Fraser Valley Real Estate Board’s highest honour for community service.
Louise McKnight was presented the 2010 Realtors Make Good Neighbours award Feb. 16 at the Coast Hotel & Convention Centre in Langley. Abbotsford’s Landmark Realty was the corporate recipient for 2010.
Board president Deanna Horn described the honour of being recognized as the most active and having the greatest impact as “quite incredible.”
“Louise McKnight and Landmark Realty stand as positive examples and role models not only for our profession, but for everyone. They illustrate the profound difference volunteerism and advocacy make in helping our communities become more vibrant, friendly and comfortable places to live.”
McKnight is the founder, co-ordinator and mentor of Angel Wings, a group of teens that came together after one lost her mother to breast cancer. The group raises money for breast cancer research through various fundraising activities.
McKnight established and chairs the annual Great Pumpkin Walk to benefit the Peace Arch Hospital, where she is also a foundation board member. In addition, she is an active member of the student planning council and past-president of the parent advisory council at Elgin Park Secondary.
